This news release from The Chapel Hill Police Department July 2, 2015:
“Chapel Hill Police Investigate Multiple Break-ins
In the early morning hours of both June 26 and 27, the Chapel Hill Police Department responded to reported break-ins to two different apartments [in the same area of] Chapel Hill. In both incidents the suspect entered the apartments through an unlocked door, took no property, and left once confronted by the residents.
Additionally, during the past several months, police have responded to a number of break-ins to vehicles that were left unlocked.”
The Chapel Hill Police Department goes on recommend how to keep your neighborhood safer, not the least of which is to lock your doors and windows and remove “hidden” spare keys. I would have thought this was obvious, but apparently, not everyone got the memo. Lock your doors and windows for a safer tomorrow!
